Things I Want to Share with You

It’s been a while since we had a heart to heart and the timing feels right to share a few things that have been on my mind, and to hear what’s been on yours. There have been many changes and much reflection over the past months for me, as I’m sure there has been for you as well, and I’d like nothing more than to have a conversation with you about those experiences.

PRESSING PAUSE + WHAT’S NEXT

Around the middle of last year, I began to feel the overwhelm from all that was happening in our world, especially so in how things played out online and on social media. Whether well meaning or not, the avalanche of advice and opinions weren’t helping and it lead me to take an unplanned, but much needed, sabbatical from the virtual world. Quieting the outside noise allowed me to connect with my own thoughts and ideas - and to work through them at my own pace and in my own way.

AT HOME

Not spending hours online (or on cancelled photo shoots and workshops) gave me time to immerse myself in real life in a way that I hadn’t experienced in years. Once my husband and I settled into our new at home routine, which took a while, we found a groove that worked for us. There were long conversations about traveling, whether we want to move and where, and deep dive talks about business and working less, but in a more meaningful way - one that felt purposeful and fulfilling.

Something we enjoyed tremendously was the purchase of new electric bicycles and a used Mercedes Sprinter van to travel about the country. The van is perfect size for the two of us, and although I’m a European vacation gal through and through, I’ve really loved getting reacquainted with the stunning beauty of the US, especially the deserts of the Southwest. Later this summer we’re planning a long trip to cooler northern states so we can escape the California heatwave.

BUSINESS

The cancellation of photo shoots, workshops, and my annual Academy France event, allowed me time to assess the structure of my company and to contemplate the next iteration of what’s to come. I wasn’t looking for a dramatic pivot, like going to law school or changing what I do completely, but more of a slight shift. One that aligned with who I am, with the experience I’ve gained, and with all life has taught me to get me where I am today. During the past year, I took on more consulting clients who were looking for support in their business, and discovered that helping others was the meaningful work I was seeking and I plan to continue coaching, mentoring, and paying it forward to other business owners.

LET’S CONNECT

I suppose what I’ve come away with from the past year is how deeply we need real connection and community, and that thought has lead me to something that I’m very excited about - Summer Sessions! I want to host 45 minute Zoom meet ups to get to know you better! We can talk about styling, business, creativity, what you’re reading, or what’s inspiring you. The meet ups are completely free and I won’t be selling, pitching, or promoting anything to you. Think of them as a coffee date with friends. I do hope you’ll come - our first one is next Wednesday!

You’ll need to Sign Up Here so I can send you a Zoom link the day before our meet up.
Summer Session Dates - June 30, July 28, August 25 at 5:00pm pst.
